Milkshirt.com had a booth at the Peddler Show in Fredericksburg, Texas at the end of November. The overall experience was great. Me, Gene and my wonderful inlaws met lots of nursing moms, pregnant moms and ladies who previously nursed their children. We also met several healthcare professionals who support breastfeeding. The expression we heard most frequently was “where were you when I was nursing?”

We are now offerring Over The Shoulder Baby Holders Slings. They were a hit with moms, dads and even pet owners at the Peddler Show. One mom purchased a sling when she arrived and promptly put her baby boy inside. He approved with a big smile.

I am posting a picture of our booth. The manequin, poster and name of our business caused quite a stir.  You’d think that we were displaying pornography. Gene moved the poster outside of the booth in order for people to view it with a bit of privacy. Men were blushing at the sight of the mannequin and teenage boys did double takes. We received some nasty looks from women and teenage girls. I guess a lot of people have negative feelings about breastfeeding. Luckily, Milkshirts keep moms covered and most people don’t realize when they are nursing.Â

If we return to this show next year, we will have to consider camouflage Milkshirts and slings :) I have never seen so many civilians wearing camo in my life.

Milkshirt.com has been up and running for a month and we haven’t done any print advertising yet. Gene and I have had a great month of sales even though we both work full time and are raising three children. Almost every free moment of our time has been devoted to Milkshirt, but the success is largely due to other people.  I just wanted to say thanks to everyone.

My brother-in-law, Allen, is brilliant and has made a beautiful website for us. He is patient and generous with his time. I would be beating my head against the wall if it weren’t for Allen. Â

My stunning sister-in-law, Susan, and gorgeous niece, Samantha, modeled for us. Her husband, Jim, took all of the pictures. As if this weren’t enough of a gift, Susan is spreading the word about Milkshirt in California and even had a Milkshirt party. Â

All four of our parents are spreading the word about Milkshirt. My mom has volunteered to wear shorts that say “I love milkshirt.com” accross the rear end! My mother-in-law, a former La Leche League member, is full of marketing ideas.

Our friends and family have been amazing. They are spreading the word and constantly giving advice. It is greatly appreciated. Please continue to share your wisdom. My cousin, Leah, has volunteered to setup a booth at the Havre de Grace Seafood Festival in Maryland to sell Milkshirts. This will take place in August. Our friend, Kevin, has offerred to make marketing calls for us. We are overwhelmed by the kindness of our friends and family.

Our customers are wonderful. So many of them have called, emailed or told me in person how much they like their Milkshirts. They are also helping to spread the word. Some have requested promo items to leave at their doctor’s office or to hand out to other nursing moms. This is truly heartwarming. We are thrilled that our nursing undershirts are making things easier for you.

Many Thanks,

Angela

We went to Maryland to visit my extended family. I was dreading flying with 3 kids, but things went OK. Fiona, our youngest, kept climbing over the seat on the plane. Luckily, my mom and dad went also….so the adults outnumbered the kids. I have a huge extended family and some of my relatives had never met Gene or our 2 youngest children before. We had a great time and celebrated Fiona’s 2nd birthday. We also went to see the LPGA…it was so hot outside that we felt like we were still in Texas. My cousin is a farmer and the kiddos were fascinated with the cows. We tried to take some pictures of a calf nursing, but the mama was being pretty discreet.  All of the women in my family know about Milkshirts, but the men kept saying “what’s a Milkshirt?” I was so proud when my dad provided an excellent explanation.Â

Here are a few pictures from our trip.Â
